PRIVATE BOAT STORAGE
STORAGE RULES for PRIVATE BOAT OWNERS
These rules apply to all private boat owners that row out of the West Side Rowing Club, the Fontana Boathouse, and the tonawanda creek.
RULES and regulations
All rack locations are allocated by the WSRC Staff. Racks may be subject to change.
Priority is given to active users, but the WSRC Staff will have final word.
Storage Fee shall cover storage of one boat and one set of oars.
Oars must be labeled with name on shaft. Only one set of oars per shell.
Only dues paid members of the West Side Rowing Club are permitted to row from West Side facilities.
When rowing 30 minutes before sunrise and 30 minutes after sunset All Scullers MUST have proper/visible lighting on both the bow AND stern of their boat. A green/red bow light and a white stern light.
Racing crews have priority on the race course.
All shells shall favor the side of the canal nearest their starboard side (during normal practice). However, it is better to stop or give way than to damage equipment or injure anyone. PLEASE do not turn in front of approaching crews.
If you are exiting the Doc Schaab docks and you want to go South then you must row past the point and round the green channel marker. If you are coming from the South and you want to return to the docks you must row past the green channel marker, go around it, check for oncoming crews and then recover at the docks. Recovery at the Fontana also requires you to turn around the channel marker. If you are rowing from the North and want to recover at the Fontana you need to row to the channel marker between the Fontana and the Yacht Club. Cutting across the canal is dangerous, disruptive, and is strictly prohibited.
Ferry Street is a no turn zone. Row to the channel maker or 2k mark and then turn.
Hanging racks must be pulled up while rowing to facilitate other boats entering and exiting the bays.
All persons must sign in and out on iCrew each time they row.
WSRC is not responsible for monitoring the use of private equipment.
All private boat owners must register via RegattaCentral. Both storage fee and private rowing fee must be made in full before any rack will be assigned or boat will be allowed on the water.
All private boat owners agree to abide by the rules and the procedures of the West Side Rowing Club at all times. The WSRC Safety Manual can be found HERE.
