Our Mission

The West Side Rowing Club is a non-profit organization run by volunteers whose purpose is the advancement of the physical, mental, and moral well being of the youth of the City of Buffalo, New York and surrounding communities by education, training, instruction, and participation in the art of rowing and other athletic pursuits.

Recent Updates

West Side Crews Turn in strong performances at the Youth National Championships

7 Crews from West side traveled to Bethel, Ohio this past weekend to compete in the USRowing Youth National Championship. Crews from the West Side Junior Women's program (Lightweight 8, Senior 8), Nardin Academy (Lightweight 8, Lightweight 4) and Canisius High School (Lightweight 8, Lightweight 4, Senior 8) all qualified for the race and the New York State Championships and made the trek to compete against the top junior crews from across the nation.

Canisius High School brought home the only medal, winning a bronze in the Lightweight 4+ event. Nardin finished fourth in the Women's Lightweight 4 and Canisius finished 6th in the Lightweight 8. The West Side Junior Women won the petite final of the Lightweight 8 and finished 5th in the petite final of the Senior Women's 8. Canisius High School also finished 5th in the petite final of the Men's Senior 8 and Nardin won the "C" final of the Women's Lightweight 8.

All 7 Buffalo crews are now ranked in the top 13 in the nation for their respective events. Congratulations to all coaches and athletes on a successful spring season.

July Events at West Side

July 10, 2009 - 2nd Annual West Side College Night, 8pm. College coaches from across the country will be at West Side to meet with perspective student athletes. A presentation about the recruiting process and NCAA guidelines will be given and media guides for many collegiate programs will be available to any interested athlete and parent.

July 11, 2009 - 1st Annual West Side Alumni Reunion, 12-4pm. An event open to all West Side Rowing Club Alumni. Food and beverages will be served and the rowing opportunities will be available for those that want to get back on the water. Cost is $25 per person and you can sign up here. RSVP's are greatly appreciated to ensure enough food and beverage is ordered.

July 12, 2009 - 96th Annual West Side Invitational Regatta West Side Rowing Club will host the 96th Annual Invitational Regatta. Racing will begin at 9am. The regatta is open to the public and a parking shuttle will be available from Front and LaSalle Park beginning at 6am. If you are interested in begin a regatta volunteer, please click here
