Our Mission

The West Side Rowing Club is a non-profit organization run by volunteers whose purpose is the advancement of the physical, mental, and moral well being of the youth of the City of Buffalo, New York and surrounding communities by education, training, instruction, and participation in the art of rowing and other athletic pursuits.

West Side Alum goes to the Olympics!

Steve Coppola has been selected to the United States Olympic team for the 2008 games this August. Steve began rowing at Canisius High School and competed for West Side before attending Princeton University. West Side congratulates Steve and wishes all 2008 Olympic athletes the best of luck in Beijing this August!

West Side Crews at the USRowing Youth National Championships

Five crews from Buffalo wrapped up the 2008 Spring racing season this past weekend in Cincinnati, Ohio. Crews from the West Side Junior Women’s program, Canisius High School, Nardin Academy and the Buffalo Seminary competed at the USRowing Youth National Championships against other top scholastic and club programs from across the United States. The West Side Women’s Lightweight 8 brought home a bronze medal making them the first women’s crew from Buffalo to medal at this event. Congratulations to all spring athletes, coaches, and programs on a very successful season!

Summer Rowing

The summer season officially kicks off on Monday June 23rd. Below are the times for the first practice for each program:

 

Junior Men (A’s and B’s) – Organizational Meeting Saturday June 21st at 9am in the WSRC Board Room

Senior Lightweight Men - Saturday June 21st at 9am in the WSRC erg room

Senior Open Men - Monday June 23rd at 5:30am in the WSRC tank room

Senior Women (Open and Lightweight) - Monday June 23rd at 5:30am in the Fontana Boathouse Board Room

Junior Women (A’s and B’s) – Monday June 23rd at 5:30pm in the WSRC erg room

Junior C Program - Monday July 7th at 3:30pm in the WSRC erg room.

West Side Invitational Regatta information is now available on our "Events" page. All entries can be completed on Regatta Central

Junior Development Camp Coaches Needed

West Side is currently looking for Coaches to help with its Junior Development Camp. The camp runs on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3:30-5:30pm for five weeks beginning on July 7th. Anyone interested in coaching with this program must contact Matt Logue by July 1st
